Joint Regional Wellness Planning in North Queensland

As part of ongoing collaborations with the North Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN), I worked with the steering committee to develop and gain consensus on the updated Northern Queensland Joint Regional Wellbeing Plan (JRWP). This process involved using data and consultation themes as a steering committee (including 4 HHS) to understand priorities for each HHs subregion and align them into a unified regional strategy.

My role included supporting the overall engagement strategy, detailed planning of two rounds of stakeholder co-design sessions, and facilitating workshops involving senior representatives from NQPHN and each HHS along with other steering committee members.

Through a highly collaborative co-design approach, the team was able to quickly surface shared priorities and reach agreement on the JRWP in record time.

Cara McCormack, Operations Director for Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs, reflected:

“The co-design approach enabled key stakeholders to understand the commonalities and differences across the region. Iain helped us shape the approach, and his deft facilitation skills allowed our team to fully engage in the workshops. The engagement was a cost-effective way to get the support and confidence we needed while maintaining ownership and control of the outcomes.
